Saturday morning in Brežice was filled with joy and good spirits, as part of the Brežice October celebrations featured the presentation of local tourist associations, while visitors had the opportunity to taste the Mayor's goulash and explore the Water Tower's open house.
The tourist associations showcased their efforts in maintaining and enhancing the charm of the local areas. They competed for the best-decorated stand and for the title of the best Mayor's goulash.
The Tourist Association Kapele won the prize for the best-decorated stand, while the team from the Tourist Association Artiče cooked the winning Mayor's goulash.
This year's competition featured 12 teams: TD Artiče, Bizeljsko, Dobova, Globoko, Kapele, Pišece, Sromlje, Velike Malence, Zakot-Bukošek-Trnje, OTZ Brežice, TŠKD Črešnjice, and the Faculty of Tourism from the University of Maribor. The mayor of Brežice, Ivan Molan, also greeted the attendees and wished all teams the best of luck in their goulash preparation.
Musical entertainment was provided by the brass bands from Kapele and Loče, who joined forces with the Dobova majorettes, known for their more than 20-year tradition and their titles as national and European champions. Dancers from the Lukec Dance Club also performed, with the pioneer hip hop group Mars Colony and the youth hip hop group Xplosion, both under the guidance of mentor Luka Vodlan.
The highlight of the event was the announcement of the competition results. The expert committee, consisting of Roman Baškovč, Jože Prah, and Rudi Kos, awarded the prize for the best-decorated stand to the Tourist Association Kapele, and the title of best goulash to the team from the Tourist Association Artiče. After the announcement, visitors enjoyed the goulash served under the shelter at Kos's.
