The Pišece Castle is first mentioned in written records in the early 14th century, but it had probably existed much earlier, at least in the 13th century when it was mentioned by the guardians of castle, the Pišece knights.
From the end of 16th century on, it was owned by the royal family of Moscon. The castle stands on a small cone-shaped hill at the southern slopes of Orlice, hidden among the Orlice woods. The castle is nicely visible from the distance, but approaching it, the location is hidden.
The castle building is of irregular polygonal shape due to its development and rebuilding over several centuries. Despite later baroque and historicist extensions and renovations, its Romanesque tower dominates over the rest of the walls. There is a beautiful English garden arranged by the castle with its most prominent features being a 50 metres high sequoia and a pond that gives a touch of aristocracy.
There is a foot trail leading from the centre of Pišece, leading past the Pleteršnik Homestead, the lower pond and through the renovated English park to the castle.
The Pišece Castle is not open for public.
