Brežice Castle and the Knight’s Hall

Cesta prvih borcev 1, 8250 Brežice

At the end of the 17th and the beginning of the 18th centuries the aristocratic family Attems turned  the renaissance castle into a residential castle. Earl Ignac Maria Attems ordered the paintings in the stairway of the castle, as well as the chapel in the west-wing. Furthermore he ordered the reconstruction of the eastern part and installed a hall there, which today is called the Knights’ hall and is a unique monument of worldly baroque painting in this part of Europe. Nowadays the hall is the venue of concerts and other events. The Brežice castle, home of the museum Posavski muzej Brežice, is where you get to know the rich cultural heritage of the Posavje Region.
